I feel like I gained so much information and first hand experience of life is in Tanzania and how different it varies to back home. Everyone was so welcoming so it helped to experience life in Arusha.

My advice would be to just go for it! You will absolutely love volunteering and everyone is so helpful. Home is only a flight away but you will never want to leave

The personal growth & new experiences I gained on this trip were far greater than I ever could have imagined. I met new friends for life in my fellow volunteers & the children/staff at the school I worked at touched my heart more than I thought possible.

Do it!! I was nervous to go on my own, but most people go alone so everyone is in the same boat and you bond with people so fast, it’s like one big family. It is also so important to immerse yourself in different cultures & circumstances to be a well rounded individual, so this placement in Africa was so eye opening & a true reminder that we are very lucky / happiness is not about what we have, it’s about who you have.

I feel like I grew a lot as a person, I gained a new perspective on the world and a new way of seeing things. I’ve never been this up close to poverty and this is something I’ve only seen on social media before. Seeing it with my own eyes taught me so much about gratitude and not taking things for granted.

This is truly my best experience ever and I recommend everyone to do something like this at least once in their lifetime. Not only do you learn about a new culture, get to help those in need and develop a new sense of yourself - you also make a ton of friends on these kinds of adventure both local friends and volunteers. I am forever thankful for this.

There are many things I have gained from this experience. I have learned much more about myself, about others, about a new culture, about a new country. I have learned a lot on this trip and I would definitely do it again a thousand times. I take with me many beautiful things, many memories, many laughs, many dances, many new friends, and I feel like I have created a new home.

The pre-trip information was great. All the information was in the handbook, which was super helpful. The local team were absolutely fantastic. From organising trips to check-in visits, they couldn't have done anymore for us.

I never expected to change the world, but this volunteer experience changed me as a person. The kids and families have left a huge impression on me; they are so happy with what they have, which is not very much and they are so thankful and grateful for anything extra I provided.

The accommodation was exactly as pictured and described. The meals were all very tasty. It was nice to experience some of the cultural dishes from Tanzania. I am coeliac so the mama's prepared me a different dish whenever chapati would be the main element of the dish. I did not expect this but I was very grateful for all the effort they went to.

I am beyond grateful for being a part of this program and meeting so many amazing people. The children have taught me more than I could ever have imagined. I left Arusha with so many unforgettable memories and learning experiences. I would definitely recommend choosing IVHQ and Tanzania. We were immersed in the culture and had constant in-country support if ever we had a problem.
