Immerse yourself in the island's rich culture with our Introduction Week in Ubud! This is the perfect blend of cultural exploration and essential program knowledge. You'll visit iconic Buddhist temples, enjoy an Indonesian cooking class, and learn the basics of Bahasa, all while experiencing the unique traditions that make Bali so special. From a traditional flower offering ritual to a walk through stunning rice fields, this week is packed with unforgettable activities to prepare you for your volunteer placement. Plus, you'll meet fellow volunteers, swap contact details, and plan exciting weekend adventures together. Here's what you can look forward to:
Introduction Week Schedule:
DAY 1 | Kick off with an insightful introduction to the IVHQ Bali - Ubud Program. Meet our friendly local staff, learn about Indonesian customs, safety guidelines, and expectations. Then, enjoy a walking tour of Monkey Street and Ubud Market. After lunch, dive into a class on Balinese culture before ending the day with an early dinner and a vibrant Balinese dance show.
DAY 2 | Start your day with a Balinese language class at 9:30am that will immerse you in the local dialect. After a delicious lunch, set out on a village walking tour at 2pm to explore the stunning rice terraces, vibrant art village, and picturesque hills.
DAY 3 | Follow up with another Bahasa lesson to sharpen your language skills in the morning then immerse yourself in a Batik painting class at 1pm, where you'll learn this beautiful art form.
DAY 4 | Put on your chef’s hat for an Indonesian cooking class, where you’ll learn traditional Balinese dishes before learning how to make a flower offering for the Bali’s sacred flower offering tradition, an essential part of daily spiritual life.
DAY 5 | Embark on a spiritual tour at 9am to visit the renowned "Pura Tirta Empul," the holy water temple, where you can enjoy a refreshing shower in the sacred waters. After a late lunch at the house, gather for a project meeting at 3pm to prepare for your upcoming volunteer project.

It is important to note, this schedule can be changed and/or amended depending on weather conditions, local conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
Important note:
The Introduction Week is an optional add-on, extending your stay by one week. If you're volunteering for two weeks, you’ll be hosted by the local team for a total of three weeks.
If you're joining the Turtle Conservation project afterward, a transfer from Ubud to Nusa Penida will be required, with a fee of US$72 covering the boat ticket and transportation.
