I have felt a deeper confidence and understanding of myself in doing this project alone. I also feel more educated about diving. It was exciting, entertaining and well organized. I was able to meet so many incredible people who I will keep in contact with. Overall, I would 100% do this program again and am looking forward to trying a new program. Omis is a special place and I’m thankful I spent two weeks here.

Project details
Intrigued by the idea of being a Content Creator For Impact volunteer in Croatia? International Volunteer HQ’s Content Creator For Impact project gives volunteers the opportunity to use their skills to make a meaningful difference. Volunteers will assist NGOs in Croatia who are fighting for causes like social inclusion, anti-racism, animal protection, disability awareness and environmental conservation. Their help with communication can be the key to obtaining donations, raising awareness, and making local citizens more active in these causes.
What to expect and how you'll make an impact
In today’s digital world, a strong online presence is essential for NGOs. By providing a powerful platform, you will contribute to promote awareness, reach a broader audience, and efficiently mobilize resources and leverage digital channels, which is crucial for advancing NGOs missions and fostering meaningful societal impact.
The reality is that full-time specialized professionals are often unaffordable for non-profits, but this is where you come in. This program offers you the opportunity to use your creative and digital skills to boost local organizations’ online presence and support their initiatives.
As a Content Creator for Impact volunteer, you’ll contribute to various impactful projects, from animal shelters and refugee support to community aid and environmental campaigns.
Volunteers with a range of skills can make a difference by joining this project:
- Website Developers: Improve and enhance websites with engaging content and media for charitable causes.
- Graphic Designers: Create attractive marketing materials, including flyers, advertisements, social media posts, and logos.
- Videographers and Photographers: Produce compelling promotional videos and document NGO activities for social media and marketing.
- Copywriters: Craft engaging narratives that highlight the missions and stories of these organizations.
- Content Creation Enthusiasts: Use your creativity to support nonprofits in unique and impactful ways.
If you have a preference in regards to the type of NGO you would like to work with, please note this in your application when you apply and we will do our best to match you to that focus area.

What recent volunteers said about their IVHQ experience
I feel that I gained an immense amount of knowledge and experience about different cultures and also scuba diving. I would 100% recommend this program to others and it is an amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture while also making an impact by volunteering!
Don't hesitate to join this project. It is an experience for me that I found challenging and inspiring. Language is not an issue (I still can't speak much Croatian). If you are outgoing and self-confident and can patiently engage with really talented people you will love this experience.
I truly loved my experience in Split and I would not trade my experience for anything. It was the greatest experience of my life for so many reasons, but I would say my open mind definitely improved my experience in the best way possible.
This was such an amazing experience! I was worried that I was going to be alone at first but I ended up meeting so many amazing people and we became friends straight away. I’m so glad that I did this, I wish I could’ve stayed longer!
If you’re new to volunteering, just like I was, IVHQ is definitely the right choice and the best decision I’ve ever made! Every single detail was taken care of, from the volunteer work itself, to the accommodation. I already can’t wait for next summer so I can volunteer again!

Location
The IVHQ Croatia volunteer program is based in Split, a vibrant seaside spot on the Mediterranean coast and the second largest city in Croatia. This is a golden opportunity to volunteer in Europe in a place high up on every traveller’s bucket list. Split is a popular tourist hub because of its scenic ocean views, rich culture and authentic Croatian feel.
Volunteer placements are located in and around Split with the Marine Conservation project based in Omiš. While Split is a well developed city, it does have pockets of under-served communities, social and environmental issues and local initiatives that need volunteer help. By choosing to volunteer here, you’ll be supporting community-led projects that focus on providing opportunities to improve the livelihoods and wellbeing of the local community.
Arrival and orientation
The Croatia volunteer program begins on the first and third Monday of every month, and you need to arrive in Split on the Sunday before your chosen start date.
After you have registered for the program, please book your flights to arrive at Split International Airport (SPU).Your airport pick-up is included in your Program Fee, however, if you arrive outside of Sunday between 9:00AM - 09:00PM, your pick-up will incur an extra cost of AU$108.
When you arrive, you will be greeted at the airport by a member of the local team and taken to the volunteer accommodation, approximately 40 minutes away. Your accommodation is covered by your Program Fee and includes the night before your program orientation.
If you are travelling in Croatia prior to your volunteer program, we can arrange for you to be picked up from a meeting point in Split on the Sunday before your program start date. You are also free to make your own way to the volunteer accommodation.
On Monday, orientation is hosted by our local team in Croatia and runs for a full day. Orientation covers everything you need to know for your volunteer program in Croatia – an introduction to Croatia, Croatian customs, rules and expectations, safety, travel opportunities in Croatia, and an introduction to your project and placement. The orientation will also give you a chance to meet other volunteers and swap contact details for weekend travel and socialising.
