Add-ons and experiences available in Zanzibar

Volunteers on the Zanzibar Coastal and Marine Conservation project are typically accommodated in semi-permanent fully furnished tents in a camp located just a 3 minute walk from the beach. However, if you were interested in having your own space right next door to the camp instead, then this accommodation upgrade may be perfect for you!

Each private room has its own double bed, en-suite bathroom, and Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen, and a sitting area.

If booking with another person, only one person needs to buy this upgrade and please contact your Program Manager to inform who the other volunteer is that will be using this upgrade.

Please note: 
- There is no restaurant or meal service available (all meals are taken at the camp). Volunteers should also be aware that there is a friendly dog on the bungalow property. 
- There is a minimum age requirment of 12 for this upgrade.

Volunteers who are already dive certified or who would like to become certified while on the program can take part on these dive packages to learn more about life underwater in Zanzibar and the conservation efforts to protect the pristine waters of Zanzibar and its marine life. The dive packages include meaningful dives such as:

This program is the perfect mix of purposeful conservation work and unforgettable aquatic adventure, making your time in Zanzibar truly meaningful.

Those who book the package are guaranteed two dives per week, which can be any combination of Coral Nursery + Dive Against Debris, Coral Nursery + Underwater Naturalist Dive, or Dive Against Debris + Underwater Naturalist Dive if Coral Nursery slots are full. Additionally, a snorkeling trip is included after at least one of the dives for those who book the package.

If you are not already PADI certified you can complete your first scuba diving certification while volunteering, which opens the door to a lifetime of underwater adventures! You will just need to also add the PADI Open Water Certification Add-On to your file.

Please note: 
- If you are not PADI certified prior to joining the program you will need to be volunteering for at least 2 weeks to be eligible for this Add-On;
- This is only available to volunteers taking part on the Coastal and Marine Conservation project from June 2025 onwards.
