It was the most incredible experience! Going somewhere alone is always scary and you are thrown in the deep end, but I would recommend the experience to everyone. It's not just beneficial for the country or community you visit—it also helped me grow as a person. I learned valuable things about myself, including the importance of gratitude for my own experiences and circumstances.

What recent volunteers said about their IVHQ experience
I could not recommend anything more! It was the best experience ever, you'll meet so many people and make friends whilst also making a difference to a disadvantaged community. I absolutely adored my childcare and was so sad to leave, the kids were beautiful and so cute. The only thing I wish I did differently was stay longer.
I gained so much from this experience. I was able to witness the incredible differences in heath care between Tanzania and Australia, opening my eyes up further to the huge health disparities between first and third world countries. This information will be beneficial throughout the completion of my nursing and public health promotion uni degree. Additionally, I was able to connect with local people at the hospital, and observe different practices and approaches to health care. I not only gained knowledge, but I gained further perspective, empathy, and a motivation to help create more long term change to these under resourced hospitals (and childcares).
My advice to someone joining the program is to embrace everything with an open mind! It is all an incredible experience and you are so lucky to have the opportunity to partake in a program like this, you will love it.
It was the most wholesome experience so far in my life. It has made me grow as a person and want to do more volunteer in the future. As well as making a difference of the children's lives, you will get to make some amazing friends along the way!
