I gained a new sense of responsibility on a personal level. I made some wonderful friendships through this program. I was introduced to a vibrant, inviting, and friendly community. Childcare was a touching and incredible experience.

If someone was hesitant to join, I would let them know, you wouldn’t be alone. Coordinators are always responsive and making sure you are very comfortable in every way, and that when it comes to the volunteering, knowing your presence is making a difference in someone’s life is extremely rewarding and fulfilling.

Things I gained from this program are quite immeasurable. It actually helped me see the world in a whole new way - in addition to helping me find a new passion for helping others. To be honest with you, I was really hesitant on joining an international program. I’m only 18 and as a newly turned adult, this was completely out of my comfort zone. But I’m glad I did it, and I’m not very sure I could’ve done it without the resources and steps that the program gave me. I found myself, made best friends, and made an impact. IVHQ’s Program gave me the resources needed to maximize my trip in every way. Since I’ve been home, I’ve actually recommended quite a few people who were looking to do the same thing, but were also nervous about the process.

The biggest advice I can give anyone is to JUST DO IT. If you are hesitant, there are guides and checklists provided. Worried about the cost? IVHQ is one of, if not the cheapest there is.... and they don't sacrifice quality at the expense of the price. I proudly wear a Tanzania hat at my job and whenever anyone asks about it, the first thing I mention is IVHQ. That’s the impact you’ve had.

I truly do feel like a better version of myself since coming away from this experience. In terms of self-confidence, I’ve seen myself grow and flourish in more ways than I can imagine. I really enjoyed my placement and immersing myself into the Tanzanian culture. The friends I made at my volunteer house will be friends for life and I am grateful to IVHQ for such a positive experience.
