Our Study Abroad programs include group reflection sessions before, during, and after the experience, designed to provide an extra layer of support and opportunity for learning. Participants are not required to earn credit to join the program; however, if you would like to receive a transcript from Warren Wilson College for completing coursework alongside your volunteer or internship hours, we offer two options to choose from:
For each credit earned, students must complete 40 volunteer hours and one personal reflection, in addition to one final assignment. Example reflection topics include global citizenship, personal identity, expectations management, cultural competence, sustainability, and more.

Designed for self-paced learning, the online curriculum features videos, readings, tasks, quizzes, and assignments. A series of five online modules are completed before, during, and after your time abroad, and students can choose from one of three specializations: global citizenship, marine conservation, and wildlife conservation. The entire course takes 6+ weeks to finish, so work outside of the in-country program is required.
Upon completion, students are awarded a transcript for 41 UK credits ($849 USD) from the National Open College Network (NOCN) or 10 US credits ($1,998) from Warren Wilson College. If pursuing US credit, the Diploma and Global Community Engagement course can be paired to earn additional credit, without any additional cost.

By joining an organized Study Abroad program, we take care of all the logistics on your behalf and you have a dedicated group to build community with through welcome and farewell dinners, cultural experiences/tours, meaningful group reflections, and more. You will have the opportunity to get to know other participants in advance of your trip through a pre-departure meeting, and you’ll have an added layer of support throughout your experience. Our organized programs are great for someone who wants to be adventurous and Study Abroad in a non-traditional way while joining a group of like-minded students from around the world. If you are interested in making an impact, getting off the beaten path, and engaging with local community members, while earning credit abroad, this is a great option for you.
Our short-term Study Abroad internship programs start from 2 weeks but you have the option to extend it to 3 or 4 weeks. Fee changes apply.
Our Study Abroad internship programs start at US$2,300 for a 2-week program.
You can earn up to 14 academic credits, depending on the duration of your chosen course and Study Abroad program.
Our short-term Study Abroad programs are on fixed start dates, namely, December 29, May 25, June 22, and July 20. If you’d like to find alternative dates, you can explore individual volunteer abroad opportunities.
Yes! Even if you are not interested in earning academic credit, you can still participate in our Study Abroad programs. You will participate in the included placement hours, cultural activities and excursions, and weekly group reflection, minus the weekly coursework.
