I gained awareness of their culture and I've learnt a lot about marine biology and what it would be like to be a marine biologist. If a friend was hesitant about joining this program, I would definitely recommend it if he wanted to learn more about marine biology and if he wanted to really live the culture of the place.
I was terrified to travel for the first time alone and live with strangers but it was the best experience of my life, I never imagined how fulfilled I would feel from it.
It was an enriching experiencing getting to meet the locals and be fully immersed in a different culture. You meet many amazing people along the way from all walks of life. It's been humbling to be able to volunteer in some remote places and experience living like a local, whilst giving back and helping others.
My experience volunteering was transformative. I gained valuable insights into the local culture, resilience, and warmth of the people, and broadened my perspective on the global community. To anyone hesitant to join this program, I'd say: don't let fear or uncertainty hold you back. This experience will challenge, inspire, and transform you. Trust that you have something unique to offer. Your presence, skills, and passion can make a real difference in the lives of others.
I would say I gained a better idea and understanding of a new culture. I am extremely grateful for the experiences I had during my trip and believe that I am a better, more experienced individual. If somebody wanted to do this program but was hesitant I would tell them to go for it. The world is always changing and evolving and if you continuously wait for the “perfect” time to do something like this, the time will never come. It was definitely a challenge but it was eye opening and changed how I view my daily life.
I made the decision to volunteer very impulsively and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I was really nervous going into it that I would feel alone but I met the most amazing group of volunteers. I am counting down the days until I can go back. Seriously the best experience.
I gained more insight into the lives of others and strengthened my appreciation on the simple things I have in life. Just do it, don’t be afraid, be brave. You will meet new people and gain new friendships.
More confidence, more gratitude and some very good friends that I will have for the rest of my life.
A sense of gratitude, a realisation of how lucky we as a nation/society are. I love the culture and the values we could all learn so much from it. I would say do it, there will be some tough hurdles but to know the difference and impact you can make to those less fortunate is an amazing and rewarding feeling.
I gained more confidence and I feel very happy knowing I have done good things for others this really has brought out a new side of me and I love it. I’m very appreciative thank you all!
